Disgusting Sisters detail debut album, Skin & Blisters
Electronic duo Disgusting Sisters — formed by actual sisters Julianna and Josephine Hopkins — have announced their upcoming album, Skin & Blisters, and shared their new single, "Sorry Mister".
The announcement of Skin & Blisters follows a string of previous single releases, with indie-pop anthem "Sorry Mister" being the fifth preview of the new album.
Discussing the track, the pair say: "'Sorry Mister' is inspired by those nights out where you constantly find yourself trying to reject unwanted attention. As a woman you’re often taught to smile, apologise, and avoid offending anyone even when you’re uncomfortable. We love the irony of "Sorry, Mister" because it plays on that contrast between politeness and the raw truth, celebrating female solidarity and the freedom to stop apologising for saying no"
Skin & Blisters was mostly developed as a DIY project, written and recorded by the band with the help of producer and live bassist James McManus, before they recruited producer Oli Bayston (Barry Can’t Swim, Rachel Chinouriri) to align the collection of songs with the band's more indie influences.
Over ten tracks, Disgusting Sisters tell stories of exes, sugar daddies, and day-to-day life working a standard 9-to-5 through a deadpan lens. “I hope people can relate to the songs because they really come from inside us,” Josephine says of the album. “All the lyrics are inspired by real moments. We're not trying to pretend and I think that's what makes us kind of fresh - we're just being ourselves.”
Fresh from supporting Two Door Cinema Club, the duo have also announced a UK headline tour to accompany the album's release, which will include dates in Nottingham, Manchester, Glasgow, London, and more.
