DIIV announce A. G. Cook-produced album ZIRP! with cryptic phone hotline
DIIV have announced their new album ZIRP!, a full-length produced by A. G. Cook, and confirmed it will arrive on 30 October. The reveal came with no advance singles or traditional press announcement - just a series of deadpan marketing artefacts.
A pre-save page for ZIRP! appeared on the band’s Instagram over the weekend, while Cook re-shared a teaser on his own stories. Around the same time, some fans received physical business cards in the post; a QR code on each card points to DIIV’s website and displays the phone number +1 229-798-9477.
Call that number and you are met with a telemarketer-style message that announces ZIRP! as “the future of alternative multimedia entertainment,” before rattling off a series of empty startup imperatives: a promise to “challenge assumptions,” “create entire new categories,” and “think on a global scale.”

The partnership arrives at a moment when Cook’s career is the talk of the town: between his side project Thy Slaughter, 2024's triple-album Britpop, production work on Charli xcx's Music, Fashion, Film, and his role in the soundtrack for her mockumentary, The Moment.
For DIIV's part: this will be the follow up to 2024’s Frog in Boiling Water, their fourth, which was produced by Chris Coady (IAN SWEET, Future Islands, Blondshell). Formed in 2011 in New York, DIIV has been in its current lineup iteration since 2019's Deceiver: led by Zachary Cole Smith with Andrew Bailey on guitar, Colin Caulfield on bass, and Ben Newman on drums.
