Deerhoof announce forthcoming album, Noble and Godlike in Ruin
Deerhoof have announced their new album, Noble and Godlike in Ruin, alongside the release of lead single, "Immigrant Songs".
Deerhoof shared its lead single, "Immigrant Songs" via Craigslist – two days ahead of the song’s official release – in a series of Craigslist ‘Services’ posts advertising themselves for hire in their local communities, including Brooklyn, Tucson, Portland and Minneapolis.
“This song is kind of a sequel to Satomi describing her immigration tribulations in ‘Exit Only.’ It's what it feels like to see the discourse around immigration get so twisted. The most criminal and barbaric 'migrant horde' to invade America was from Europe. There's a sector of racialised, underpaid immigrants, doing labor white people won't, who are getting deported and dehumanised in record numbers in recent years. They are really the glue keeping our society from collapsing. It's these heroic fugitives, not millionaire politicians holding little signs with one hand while sending out fundraising emails about 'strengthening our borders' with the other, who actually have a thing or two to teach us all about how to resist and survive,” says Greg from Deerhoof.

"Immigrant Songs" follows the album’s double-B side single "Overrated Species Anyhow" and "Sparrow Sparrow" which also appear on the LP and were released as a limited edition lathe-cut 7" vinyl. Their 20th album and follow-up to their release, Miracle-Level, was self-produced by the band and features Saul Williams.
Deerhoof have announced more headlining US and Canada shows as part of their 2025 tour, which will also see them heading overseas for UK and European shows beginning in July.
