Deep Throat Choir feature on new Tenderness single, "Day of Atonement"
Tenderness, the solo project of London-based singer-songwriter Katy Beth Young, has shared "Day of Atonement", featuring Deep Throat Choir, the latest single from her upcoming debut album, True.
The new song follows previously released singles "The Salt Flats", "We'll Always Have Paris 1919", and "Database Blues", arriving as a reflection of Katy Beth Young's (Peggy Sue, Deep Throat Choir) experiences with codependency and addiction.
Speaking on the track, Young explains: "‘Day of Atonement’ is a kind of collage of images and sounds and dreams and different relationships. I wanted the song to be both abstract and tangible, in the way that dreams can be.
"It’s a bit of an outlier for me –I usually try to write towards clarity, but this song is more impressionistic because it’s about parts of myself that I struggle to look at squarely, which are experiences around care and codependency and addiction. The recording was made from many layers with a huge bed of drones by Euan, Jim White-inspired drums from Olly, melancholy pedal steel by Harry and improvised, ethereal backing vocals by some of my friends from Deep Throat Choir."’
True is released on 13 March via Amorphous Sounds
