Danielle Ponder announces second album, Everything Has Changed
Rochester-born singer-songwriter Danielle Ponder has revealed plans for her upcoming album, Everything Has Changed, and released new single, "Sun and Moon".
Everything Has Changed will be Ponder's label debut, released in partnership with Phoebe Bridgers. "Sun and Moon" offers a second glimpse of the collection of songs, following previous single "Power".
“I love that this song is upbeat but the lyrics are quite sad," Ponder says of the track. "The sun and moon provide a beautiful symbol of two lovers who spend a life chasing each other but never quite coming together. The drums and tempo of the song remind me of the push and pull chase that I've been in more than I'd like to admit. It’s not until the end where the drums stop that she realizes how exhausted she is with the game and longs for something deeper.”
Everything Has Changed was executive produced by Mike Elizondo and Barney Lister, documenting her evolution as an artist from leaving her career as an attorney in 2021, to releasing her debut album Some Of Us Are Brave just one year later. "The lawyer is going to kill me," she says, "but the artist is going to save me."
"I have arrived," she adds. "I'm really trying to enjoy this privilege of being a Black woman who gets to sing on earth."
