"Strutting confidently down the street": Dagny follows up recent singles with full-length album, Dancefloor Erotica

“The goal is to create something unique and fun, something bold and unapologetic,” Dagny - full name Dagny Norvoll Sandvik - says of the album. “A playful and unconventional project that leads into an era filled with movement, freedom, and self-motivation. An album where the gaze of others and the inner critic are pushed aside.”

That impulse drives the entire record. Heavy basslines and synths wrap around Dagny’s vocals, pulling from 1980s and 1990s club influences rooted in both New York and the UK. Lead singles “Dancefloor Erotica”, “Closet Disco Queen”, and “Rain” established this tone across the previous few months. “Gosh!” is a collaboration with fellow Norwegian artist Metteson, who has toured with Christine & The Queens and whose first London headline show, at the Lexington, sold out and was promoted by queer arts collective The Chateau.

Dagny cites Talking Heads, Madonna, and Lady Gaga as touchstones for the record, but stresses that the album also became a personal anchor. “For me, this album became a reminder to be brave during a time when I needed that reminder,” the Tromso-born artist explains. “I hope they can use these songs in their everyday lives – that they can inspire a feeling of strutting confidently down the street, showing yourself to the world, standing tall, caring a little less about what others think, and trusting yourself.”

The release will be backed by a 13-date European tour across the winter, including dates in Amsterdam, London, and Berlin.

Dagny has had a prolific few years, releasing the full-length albums Elle and Strangers / Lovers in 2024 and 2020 respectively, as well as the Jupiter EP barely six months ago. She has also recently featured on tracks by JUNG, Skaar, and Kygo.
