Cutscene announce debut EP, A Piece Of Life

Manchester-based quartet Cutscene have announced their debut EP, A Piece Of Life, and shared new single, "Shrine (Give Me A Chance)".

Freshly signed to Heist or Hit (Westside Cowboy, Her's), Cutscene — formed by singer-guitarist Seb Mason, bassist Jack Ellis, guitarist Jacob Shotton, and drummer Ollie Little — released their first preview of the EP, "Concrete Line", back in April.

Speaking about the track, which expands on the heavy alt-rock sound of the EP introduced by "Concrete Line", the band share: “The song was inspired by the idea of someone fleeing from their wedding ceremony as they are saying their vows. We wrote the song to show the potential fragility present in all relationships.

"The song's structure switches lyrically between the perspective of the person who is uncertain about a future together, and their partner who is living in an artificial world fueled by a craving for the perfect relationship. This obsessive drive led to the song name ‘Shrine’, a place or thing which is venerated or prayed over, while the pop cliche (Give me a chance) emulates the sugary sweet nature of idealised love.”

A Piece Of Life is comprised of four tracks, and said to "ditch the lumbering masculinity of post-punk alienation". Following the release, the band are scheduled to appear at several UK festivals, including Gathering Sounds in Stockton, and Beyond The Music in Manchester.
