Cursive release new song from Who’s Watching horror movie soundtrack
Nebraska post-hardcore band Cursive have released "Wounded Animal", a new song that appears on Who’s Watching (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), out 30 October via their own 15 Passenger Records. The film was written and directed by lead vocalist Tim Kasher.
The track is a full-band variation of the main instrumental theme used throughout Who’s Watching. The film's 13-song soundtrack is split into two sides, with Side A containing songs by Toxic Cock Syndrome, the fictional band featured prominently throughout the film. Those recordings are performed by Kasher on guitar and backing vocals alongside Radkey’s Isaiah Radke on vocals, Darrion Lewis on guitar, Jonah Ray on drums, and Josh Ethier on bass. Side B is the underscore.
Who’s Watching is a psychological horror about the male gaze and stalker tropes. It stars Zachary Ray Sherman, whose performance earned him the Best Actor Award at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, alongside Gracie Gillam, Olivia Luccardi, and Steve Berg. The plot follows an eccentric musician/aspiring filmmaker Sampson who becomes obsessed with his new coworker and secretly documents every aspect of her life in an effort to make her the subject of his new film.
Cursive's previous music before this was the 2024 full-length Devourer, their tenth studio album. The band formed in 1995 after Slowdown Virginia disbanded, and were part of the Saddle Creek/Omaha/Bright Eyes scene. A.J. Mogis and Mike Mogis co-produced their 1997 debut album Such Blinding Stars for Starving Eyes before Cursive later moved to their own 15 Passenger imprint.
