Current Joys returns with new album, ROSEBUD

ROSEBUD will be self-released via Rattigan's own label imprint, They Are Evil, after years on Secretly Canadian. The new album marks a creative redirection for Current Joys, drawing on nu metal, screamo, electronica, hip-hop, power-pop, emo and darkwave. Today, "HOLE" lands as the first preview.

Rattigan first began making the album as a collection of slowcore songs that emerged from a difficult period. At the same time, he was working with rappers including Lil Yachty and Polo Perks, and collaborating with producer Danny Dwyer (aka never goodbye) on Matt Proxy's track "God", who he regards as “the most beautiful producer in the world". Rattigan sent him the songs and together they reworked them, adding glitches, screams, and more distortion, stating, “I wanted it to be a collage of all of my influences."

The announcement comes just as Current Joys has kicked off his tour of the United Kingdom and Europe, which will include a sold-out show at KOKO in London, as well as dates in Bristol, Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, and more.
