Crasher reveal details of debut album, Odditi Populaire

04 September 2025, 15:18 | Written by Tyler Damara Kelly

Crasher, the three-piece electrotonic punk outfit have announced the release of their debut full-length album, Odditi Populaire, alongside the new single, "Staring Into The Static I Saw The Shape Of You".

Named after their beloved, now defunct art space, Odditi Populaire is all at once an ode to creativity, a cryptic love letter, and an analog manifesto, which follows their 2021 self-released tape, Street Cleaning Machines of the World.

"Odditi Populaire is the baby name given to the warehouse where we all started jamming and had many late night art, as well as music events, and which has now been demolished. It felt right to call the album that since it was recorded there, and it’s like emerging from that chapter towards the next transformation," explains Airick Asher Woodhead of the band.

"Many of these songs were written after coming back to the warehouse from events like Oxygen or raves in Delson. Or coming back the next day on a Sunday and jamming synthy songs, but with the techno of the night before still in the back of our minds. Tyrin and I DJ’d a bit around Montréal, which was always a nice chance to swap music and ideas," Woodhead continues.

"Most of the songs we wrote all in one go, around the same time as the songs on our last album, Street Cleaning Machines of the World. Then, “Truth / Dare” and “Blessing in Disguise” were the last ones written. Dusty from Slash Need, one of my favorite bands, is featured on “Stories”. “Dead System Man”, which Ali Laasasenaho (a poet based in Toronto) wrote, we played together at the Banff Centre during a residency a long time ago, and now, doing the Crasher version of it just clicked!"
