Courtney Love reveals she really likes UK drill music, says it's "almost like Joy Division do gangsta rap"
Courtney Love has spoken about liking UK drill music on the latest episode of WTF with Marc Maron, and described the genre as "almost like Joy Division do gangsta rap".
Yesterday (26 December) Courtney Love appeared on the latest episode of WTF with Marc Maron, and while speaking about her time in London and working in the studio on new music, Love discussed the UK's drill music scene, revealing she really likes it.
"The drill here, which is like a genre of hip-hop that I actually really like ... it's melodic, it's almost like Joy Division do gangsta rap. There's all these minor sevenths and depressing things in drill - it started in Chicago but I like the UK drill.
During the episode, Love also discussed her new album, saying, "It's not rock. It's a magnum opus 'cause I haven't made a record in 12 years."
In August 2021 Love revealed on Instagram that FKA twigs made her aware of drill music, and that she had been enjoying music by Ivorian Doll, Juice Menace, Katie Got Bandz, TeeZandos and Cristale.
Back in August this year Love revealed that she had finished her memoir The Girl with the Most Cake after spending a decade writing it.
Courtney Love hasn't released new music since 2019's "Mother" song for The Turning soundtrack.
