Cola announce new album, Cost of Living Adjustment
Montreal post-punk trio Cola have announced their upcoming third album, Cost of Living Adjustment, and shared new single "Hedgesitting".
Cost of Living Adjustment follows previous albums Deep In View and The Gloss, with "Hedgesitting" showcasing the band's departure from the "tasteful minimalism" that vocalist Tim Darcy says has defined their previous work. The new track is noted as their most maximalist work to date, described as a deconstructed b-side from the Cure’s Disintegration based around samples of both live and recorded drums.
Cola approached the upcoming record, which was entirely produced and arranged by the band, intending to have the melody guide the lyrics. While this has changed the direction in vocals, they've maintained their traditional collaborative approach to songwriting, with each member writing everything separately before coming together to work in the studio to pull the 10-song collection together.
