Cobrah announces debut album, Torn
Swedish pop artist Cobrah has announced her debut album, Torn, and shared new single “Hush”.
Torn arrives after Cobrah’s previous EPs COBRAH (2022) and SUCCUBUS (2023), which was reimagined just a year later with SUCCUBUS XXXTENDED. Back in October, she returned with new single “Torn”, and today she reveals the latest preview of the upcoming album with “Hush”.
Speaking about the track, Cobrah explains: “It’s about meeting someone in the club — that early phase where you can’t really talk, but everything is suggestive. The song has that energy of holding back, of give-and-take.”
Speaking about the album — Cobrah wrote and creative directed entirely herself with production help from Isac Hördegård, Hannes Roovers, Illangelo, Machinedrum, and Tove Burman — she adds: ”With Torn, I am way more ‘me’ as a person, the songs pull from my real life. It’s a little bit scary. I love doing characters. I love making things up and being extreme - and I’m still doing that on this album - but I’m also peeling it all off and presenting my real self as a character.
“I have a melodic language that I haven’t used before until now. Before it was too personal for me to show it, I didn’t feel strong enough.”
Torn is released on 6 March via Atlantic Records
