Following news that punk icon and legendary fashion designer Vivienne Westwood died 81, artists including Chrissie Hynde, Garbage, Boy George and more have paid tribute online.

Yesterday (29 December) it was announced that Vivienne Westwood died "peacefully and surrounded by her family" in Clapham, South London aged 81. Westwood's husband and creative partner Andreas Kronthaler said in the statement, "I will continue with Vivienne in my heart. We have been working until the end and she has given me plenty of things to get on with. Thank you darling."

Westwood became an icon in shaping the '70s UK punk scene, and used fashion to promote political causes such as climate change, nuclear disarmament, civil rights groups and more. Inn 2006, her OBE advanced to a DBE 2006 for her "services to fashion".

Chrissie Hynde, Garbage, Boy George, Billy Idol, YUNGBLUD, Sean Ono Lennon, Bryan Adams, Jodie Harsh and more have paid tribute to the late punk icon online.
