Chlöe Bailey to star in film adaptation of Bob Dylan-inspired Musical Girl From the North Country with Olivia Colman and Woody Harrelson
It's been revealed that Chlöe Bailey, Olivia Colman and Woody Harrelson have been cast in the film adaptation of the Girl From the North Country musical that uses the songs of Bob Dylan.
The original Girl From the North Country playwright Conor McPherson is on board to write and direct the film adaptation, which will star Chlöe Bailey, Olivia Colman, Woody Harrelson and Tosin Cole.
Girl From the North Country uses Bob Dylan's songs, and Variety reports the legendary musician has given his stamp of approval, saying, "To be associated with Conor is one of the highlights of my professional life. It goes without saying the man is a genius for putting this thing together and I’m thrilled to be a part of the experience. My songs couldn’t be in better hands. The play had me crying at the end. I can’t even say why. When the curtain came down, I was stunned. I really was."
Conor McPherson added, "Having Bob Dylan’s trust to create a story using his incomparable songs is a huge privilege which has brought nothing but joy to my world. But working with this incredible cast to bring these characters to life is almost beyond imagining. I’m also especially thrilled to be working with Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin and the whole Blueprint team who have given cinema audiences some of the greatest movies of recent times."
Bailey will also star in Donald Glover's upcoming series Swarm, which will also star Damson Idris, Dominique Fishback and more.
Last month Chlöe released her latest single "Pray It Away", which will feature on her debut solo album In Pieces.
