Charley Crockett to conclude Sagebrush Trilogy with new album Age Of The Ram
Texas country singer Charley Crockett will bring his sprawling Sagebrush Trilogy to a close this spring with the release of Age Of The Ram, a 20-track collection that serves as the final act in his three-part narrative.
The album, which arrives 3 April via Island Records, completes a run of three full-length records in under a year, all were co-produced with Shooter Jennings. Age Of The Ram follows last spring’s Lonesome Drifter and the GRAMMY-nominated Dollar A Day, which landed at the end of the summer.
Where the first two instalments introduced characters known as The Drifter and The Rustler, the new record centres on a figure called The Outlaw. According to Crockett, the story follows Billy McLane, a cattle rustler pursued by bounty killers after crossing a shadowy syndicate known as the Santa Fe ring. “Billy McLane escapes into the crazy mountains where the outlaw will become a legend,” Crockett explained in a recent Substack post. The 20 tracks weave together the storylines and characters introduced across the trilogy, bringing them to a head on what Crockett describes as a boundary-breaking concept record.
Dollar A Day, the trilogy’s second chapter, received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Traditional Country Album. Crockett remains on the road for much of the year, with North American dates running through to July.
