Cavetown announces new album, Running With Scissors
Singer-songwriter and producer Cavetown, the moniker of Robin Skinner, has announced his forthcoming album, Running With Scissors, alongside the release of new single, "Rainbow Gal".
"'Rainbow Gal' is like a light display turned into a song, she brings all the color into my life," says Skinner of the new release, which follows recent single, "Baby Spoon" – the track that accompanied the announcement of his signing to Futures Music Group.
If his past music created a sanctuary, Running With Scissors asks: what happens when you step outside of that room and look yourself squarely in the eye? What are the gifts and curses inherited from family, and which parts do you carry forward or cut away? Written on the other side of a two-year healing process, the album finds Skinner older, braver, and galvanized, shading his trademark softness with rawer emotions without losing sight of the millions of fans who have grown up alongside him.
“I want them to enter this new era with me and not feel like it’s for kids. Because I’m not a kid anymore,” he says. “I want it to feel like we’re moving forward together.”
