Cartel Madras end four-year silence with Jide collaboration "EVIDENT 2 ME"
Canadian duo Cartel Madras have released their first new music since 2021, sharing the drum and bass single “EVIDENT 2 ME”, a collaboration with Toronto-based producer Jide.
Since 2021's The Serpent & The Tiger, sister Eboshi and Contraa have kept a relatively low profile, emerging only for select moments and reworking their sound and visual identity behind the scenes. They appeared on Clipping’s “Mirrorshades Pt. 2” from Dead Channel Sky, opened for M.I.A. during her debut India performance in 2023, and had music featured in the EA Sports FC universe.
“EVIDENT 2 ME” marks their first official material from this period, blending militant rap, jungle rhythms, industrial textures and electronic music into a sleek, tension-driven return. The accompanying video was directed by FOREIGNERZ, the duo’s own production house.
Their live shows, known for channeling the energy of underground queer and punk scenes, have seen them share stages with JPEGMAFIA, Jack Harlow, Wu-Tang Clan, Mac DeMarco and Sudan Archives. This weekend, they'll perform at Sled Island Festival in Calgary, Alberta, supporting labelmates Clipping at The Palace Theatre on Saturday, 20 June; the duo actually signed to Sub Pop in 2018 following a performance at the very same festival.
A full-length studio album is due for release in early 2027 on Sub Pop and Royal Mountain Records.
