Cara Delevingne shares debut singles and short film by Severance director
Cara Delevingne has released her first two singles, “I Forgot” and “Out of my Head”, alongside a short film directed by Severance Emmy-winner Jessica Lee Gagné. The double drop coincides with news that the actor and model has signed to Warner Records, with a debut album expected in late summer.
The tracks were co-written with Trey Campbell and co-produced by BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Nine Inch Nails, Charli XCX).
Speaking about her belated entry into music, Delevingne said: “Music was always that dream I had, but never believed I would get the opportunity to create. Writing ‘I Forgot’ felt like a rebirth for me and ‘Out of my Head’ was like going to therapy. Everything has felt like it’s led up to this point and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
Gagné’s seven-minute visual mirrors the tracks’ willingness to shed layers. The film repeatedly exposes the scaffolding of filmmaking - the crew, rigs, studio mechanics - while Delevingne fights, dances, and screams through a series of staged set-pieces. Check it out below.
The London dates at 26 Leake Street on 7 and 8 June sit inside a wider run of intimate European and North American shows, several of which have already sold out. Delevingne’s live itinerary, announced last month, also includes festival appearances at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Buenos Aires and São Paulo, plus All Things Go in New York.
Delevingne started playing drums aged nine, carried a guitar between shoots, and wrote lyrics as a private ritual. That background surfaced professionally in a song for Luc Besson’s Valerian in 2017, a stint in the West End revival of Cabaret, and wordless cameos on records by Fiona Apple, St. Vincent and Dijon.
No title or tracklist for the forthcoming LP has been confirmed. The two singles and the Warner deal suggest the album will arrive before summer ends, with further details expected in the coming weeks.
