"This EP is statement of our identity as a group": Brighton’s Lemonsuckr sign to NYC label ALTER Music for new EP Life Is a Heist
Lemonsuckr has revealed "Stain", the first track to be taken from EP Life Is A Heist, also announced today and due out later this year on the Brighton four-piece's new label home ALTER Music.
"Stain" is the band’s first new material since 2024’s H.E.A.T. EP, which helped build their reputation as one of the more volatile live acts on the south coast and led to a slot on Best Fit's Five Day Forecast back in January this year. The song previews a darker sound for the new EP and is about, "a family fractured," explains the band. "The question of what it means to be ostracised, what it takes to erase someone completely and the inevitable consequences of a broken home.”
Lemonsuckr wrote and self-produced Life Is A Heist across their own studio space and Electric Studios in Brighton. "This EP is a statement of our identity as a group," vocalist Guy Ferris tells Best Fit.
"Parts of this EP cuts us wide open, has some very personal stuff in there. But also has some of the fun that everyone needs nowadays- ones to crack a smile at and lift the weight off the more bleak ones. We wanted to show what this all means to us and why every show feels like our chance to deliver. Absolutely cannot wait to play these live."
Life Is A Heist will be their second release, and their first since signing to independent NYC label ALTER Music, who have worked with the likes of Chalk, Naomi Scott and Gus Dapperton. "They’ve given us a lot of freedom and confidence to self produce and take all the risks we wanted," Ferris adds.
Lemonsuckr play three shows at The Great Escape in Brighton next week: 13 May at Concord 2, 14 May at Bella Union records, and 15 May at The Prince Albert with a run of UK and EU dates following through the summer and early autumn.
Life Is A Heist is due later in 2026
