boygenius, SZA, Ice Spice, and Janelle Monaé make Barack Obama's 2023 summer playlist
Every year Barack Obama shares a lengthy playlist of his favourite songs of that summer, and he has finally revealed his 2023 list.
Last year, his playlist featured Wet Leg’s "Angelica", Kendrick Lamar’s "Die Hard", Beyoncé’s "Break My Soul", Maggie Rogers’ "That’s Where I Am", Tems’ "Vibe Out", as well as other songs by Sampa The Great, Rosalía, Prince, Coffee, Burna Boy, Omar Apollo and more.
Announcing his 2023 playlist, Obama said: "Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new. Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed."

SZA's "Snooze, and Ice Spice & Nicki Minaj's "Princess Diana" are among the playlist alongside "Not Strong Enough" by boygenius, and Jorja Smith's "Try Me". Alongside these newer releases are songs such as "Blue Train" by John Coltrane, "(Sittin' On) The Dock of The Bay" by Otis Redding, and Ike & Tina Turner's "River Deep – Mountain High".
Being on Obama's playlists is an honour for many, but it seems as though Lucy Dacus of boygenius isn't so impressed.
