Boy Harsher sign to Atlantic Records and announce new album, Get Mean
Electronic duo Boy Harsher have signed to Atlantic Records, revealed plans for their new album, Get Mean, and released new single, “Hard Beat”.
On Get Mean, Boy Harsher — formed by Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller — face grief and heartbreak across what is described as their “redemption album”. “Hard Beat” follows previous single “Jeans” and arrives alongside a video directed by the band with cinematographer Owen Smith-Clark.
Get Mean will be the band’s first new full-length release since their 2022 album, The Runner. With darker electronic textures, the songs follow a tumultuous period for Boy Harsher, which saw the end of the pair’s romantic relationship, creative blockages, and familial loss, with Matthews describing it as: ”What I had to give during the most extreme period of my life.”
