Bluegirl makes official debut with "Look At All the Happy People" single
Acclaimed London producer Bluegirl (Daydreamers, Deyyess, total tommy) has released the first single of her own. "Look At All the Happy People" by the British-Cypriot alt-pop artist, real name Phoebe Xenofontos, is out now.
Bluegirl said the song is "a plea for connection" and addresses "the weight of the human experience and the search for something greater."
She previously posted a snippet of the song on the day of the solar eclipse. Within days, the clip drew an overwhelming response, including being shared by Courtney Love. An early demo shared via a secret SoundCloud link has since surpassed 66,000 plays in under a month.
It's an auspicious official launch for Bluegirl, who has made a name for herself by working as a co-writer and producer for heaps of buzzy artists - perhaps most notably on Déyyess's Claire EP - and is a recipient of the PRS Hitmaker Fund.
"My favourite type of music is that big, melancholy existential pop," Bluegirl said. "It feels huge and otherworldly; it could either make you feel like there are endless possibilities or just make you cry."
