Watch Blue Bendy cover “Handbags and Gladrags” at End of the Road festival
Ahead of their set at End of the Road Festival back in September last year, rising South East London six-piece Blue Bendy played a Best Fit secret session which included a take on the classic track “Handbags and Gladrags”.
The song – written by Manfred Mann’s Mike d'Abo – was made famous by Rod Stewart and later by the Stereophonics before finding its way onto the opening credits of The Office in 2001. Blue Bendy’s take on the track dials back the melancholy and ups the raucousness.
The band’s debut album So Medieval is due 12 April and was announced last month via new single “Come On Baby, Dig!”
Blue Bendy joined the likes of Samia, Angel Olsen, Future Islands, Caitlin Rose and The Anchoress who all played for Best Fit's Secret Sessions during last year's event. The sessions have become a key part of End of the Road each year, bringing together artists from across the line-up in a series of short sets, exclusive covers, collaborations, and live interviews and Q&As.
