"It feels like every time I make a record, I get closer to making the thing that I really want to make": Blondshell announces third album, Violins
Blondshell — the project of singer-songwriter Sabrina Teitelbaum — has revealed the details of her upcoming album, Violins, and shared the title track.
Violins follows Blondshell's 2023 self-titled debut and 2025's If You Asked for a Picture. Where her previous work explored power, addiction, and body image through “the veil of bad romantic relationships" as Teitelbaum puts it, the new album examines how violence can be balanced with beauty, exploring troubled friendships, religion, the body, and the long work of healing.
Following previous single "Heart Has To Work So Hard", "Violins" arrives today. It's described as the album's "North Star", as Teitelbaum explains,
“This song sums up the album in a lot of ways. When I was writing I felt really drawn to images of patience and kindness, for example putting your head on someone’s shoulder, alongside images of violence. I was also inspired by the idea of healing slowly and refusing to be rushed by any outside force. Things genuinely just take the time they take. I’m not at a point in life where I can have a no assholes policy yet, but I like the idea of weeding out people that aren’t going to let me have limitations.”
Violins includes eleven tracks produced by Yves Rothman, mixed by Beatriz Artola and mastered by Emily Lazar. She pulls from a range of influences, including Gangs of Four, Teenage Fanclub. Discussing the album, Teitelbaum says, “This record’s heavy in a way. It’s gotten a little bit less literal. There’s more imagery. But my main goal with this record was to have songs that hit hard. I wanted big lead lines.”
"I felt like I didn't need to overexplain anything, like I can trust the people listening more," she adds, reflecting on how the songs came together. "It feels like every time I make a record, I get closer to making the thing that I really want to make."
This autumn, Blondshell will bring the songs to the stage during a tour across North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. The UK run begins on 12 December in Manchester, with stops in Glasgow and Dublin before her biggest London headline show to date at The Roundhouse on 15 December. For select dates, she will be joined by Bully, Starcleaner Reunion, Prewn, TTSSFU and Theatre.
