Billie Marten previews new album with third single "I Can't Get My Head Around You"
Billie Marten has unveiled "I Can't Get My Head Around You", the third outing from her upcoming album Drop Cherries.
"I Can't Get My Head Around You" follows last month's "Nothing But Mine", and will appear on Drop Cherries with January's "This Is How We Move".
Marten says of the new single, "This is very much a cruiser. One to turn up really loud on the long drive out of town or back home. I wrote the chorus way before the verse, had it for months and whenever I'd pick up a guitar it would reappear. The sentiment expresses a deep sense of homecoming, arrival at where you'd like to be, and also a slight implausibility of discovering a new era of gladness. I truly adore the band's playing on this, so sweet, so natural, so alive."
Drop Cherries was recorded entirely on tape in Somerset and Wales last summer, and marks the first time Marten has both written and co-produced (with Dom Monks) an album of her own.
"I Can't Get My Head Around You" is out now. Billie Marten's Drop Cherries album will arrive via Fiction Records on 7 April, and is available to pre-order now.
