Billie Eilish and her mum to receive EMA Missions in Music Award
It's been revealed that Billie Eilish and her mum Maggie Baird will receive the Environmental Media Association Missions in Music Award to recognise their environmental efforts.
This afternoon (22 August) The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the Environmental Media Association (EMA) will award Billie Eilish and her mum Maggie Baird with the Missions in Music Award at the EMA Awards gala on 8 October.
According to the piece, Eilish and Baird will receive the award "for their incredible work as role models for sustainable behaviours", which includes Eilish's Happier Than Ever world tour that featured a climate-focused takeover at London's O2 Arena (as well as screenings for the recent climate documentary Overheated).
Baird said, "I'm thrilled to accept the EMA Missions in Music Award this year alongside my daughter. I'm so proud that Billie uses her voice to inspire a younger audience and advocate for change. It's a dream come true that Billie and I share the same passion in tackling the climate crisis. We are stronger together and I know that she'll continue to make a tremendous impact on this earth for the next generation."
