Biita Houdei releases debut single "Life Inside the Hourglass" on Basin Rock and Father/Daughter
Freshly signed to Basin Rock (Europe) and Father / Daughter (North America), experimental folk singer-songwriter Biita Houdei has released her debut single, "Life Inside the Hourglass".
"Biita," meaning "unique" in Farsi, is a new moniker given to Houdei by her aunt. Houdei was formerly known as LéPonds, under which she has independently released four albums and toured alongside Jeff Tweedy and Haley Heynderickx. “I proudly take this name. This name makes me feel closer to my Persian heritage," she explains of the change.
"Life Inside the Hourglass", produced by Heynderickx, arrives as her first single under her new name, as well as her Basin Rock and Father/Daughter debut. The track was written in twenty minutes and came to Houdei as “a ghost of sorts”.
Discussing the accompanying music video, Houdei says, “I wanted to capture the feeling of being in a void, without ties to space and time. In this shrouded space, I felt the gentle pull to be vulnerable– both in the joyful and sad moments of the performance.”
"Life Inside the Hourglass" is out now on Basin Rock and Father / Daughter
