Bel Cobain announces new EP, Kizzy
East London singer Bel Cobain has announced her upcoming EP, Kizzy, and shared new single, "Fucking City".
Kizzy follows Cobain's 2023 release Radical Forgiveness, with "Fucking City" following previous single "Am I Dumb" which dropped last month. The track sees her address feelings of loneliness and love, as well as opening up conversations around domestic abuse and the role that women have in society.
Speaking on the track, she says: "'Fucking City' is about loneliness in a city full of people. It touches on how masculinity and emotional repression feed that isolation and ruin connection. It's a raw reflection on wanting love, softness, and someone to hold you down".
Kizzy, named after Cobain's dog, who passed away towards the end of the EP's completion, was written during a transitional period for the artist. She recorded the six-track collection over eighteen months, during which she found herself sofa surfing for brief periods, as well as dealing with the passing of loved ones, the ending of relationships, and changing chapters — with Kizzy serving as her way of navigating these changes.
