Beach House's Graham Hill details debut solo album, Taking In Stars

29 October 2026, 18:30 | Written by Kayla Sandiford

Longtime Beach House drummer Graham Hill has announced his first solo album, Taking In Stars, and shared lead single "Monster In My Head".

As Hill makes his first solo departure from the dream-pop band, he introduces the work with "Monster In My Head". The track leans into a Southern folk-rock-inspired sound led by Hill's warm vocals.

"I wrote this song after having a late night conversation with my son when he was having trouble falling asleep consistently as he was hitting his teenage years," Hill explains. "The line 'When I hear the smallest thing, and it snowballs into a scream' was pretty much verbatim how he described the issue to me. His particular experience was music playing repeatedly that he couldn't stop. It really resonated with me, as someone who has an active mind and sometimes obsessive tendency to overthink, especially when there are unresolved or uncertain things playing out in my current day-to-day reality."

The album was co-produced by Hill and producer Donald Markowitz (Van Morrison, Taj Mahal, Dr. John), and features artists including Shane Theriot (Neville Brothers, Willie Nelson) and Gabe Stillman (Buddy Guy, ZZ Top), and more.
