Bandcamp abortion rights benefit album and t-shirt with Kim Gordon's cover art raises over $230,000 in 24 hours
Good Music to Ensure Safe Abortion Access to All, the Bandcamp exclusive benefit album, and the t-shirt with Kim Gordon's cover art, has raised over $230,000 for abortion rights organisations in just 24 hours.
Last Friday (7 October) Bandcamp released Good Music to Ensure Safe Abortion Access to All for 24 hours, a benefit album featuring new songs, covers, remixes, live versions and unreleased demos from Foals, Tegan and Sara, Death Cab For Cutie, Cat Power, Animal Collective, Gia Margaret, PUP, Mary Lattimore, Mac DeMarco, She & Him, Sunflower Bean, David Byrne and Devo, Charlie Hickey, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Sleater-Kinney, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Tune-Yards, Squirrel Flower, Dirty Projectors, Maya Hawke and many others.
The benefit album was also released alongside a t-shirt featuring Kim Gordon's cover art for the compilation, and in total, the products, released by Good Music in collaboration with NOISE FOR NOW, raised over $230,000 for The Brigid Alliance, Abortion Care Network and NOISE FOR NOW.
Good Music to Ensure Safe Abortion Access to All was available on Bandcamp for 24 hours, and was priced at $19.73 in honour of Roe v. Wade.
The t-shirt featuring Kim Gordon's album artwork is still available to pre-order now from noisefornow.org.
