Austin psych-punk band Being Dead sign to Polyvinyl and share new double single, “Man or Myth / Aquarium”

The singles are the first new music from Being Dead since their second album EELS, released in 2024. The trio — formed by co-lead vocalist/multi-instrumentalists Falcon Bitch, Cody Dosier, and bassist Nicole Roman-Johnston — first made their debut with their 2019 EP Fame Money Death By Drive By, which was followed by their first full-length album, When Horses Would Run, released in 2023.

Speaking about the signing, the trio share: “We don’t mean to put too much pressure on Polyvinyl, but if we’re not inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame within the next two years, we’re throwing in the towel. That said, we have full confidence that together, we will take over the world.”

“Man or Myth” sees the band pay homage to freestyle canoeing star Marc Ornstein, with the music video featuring footage of Ornstein himself.

Discussing “Aquarium”, Being Dead explain that the song “explores the taboo nature of falling in love in the workplace, which is especially scandalous if the workplace is an aquarium and your coworker is a dolphin.”
