"For people who dream": Austin producer Quiet Light returns with new mixtape Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2

The new collection of songs serves as a companion to her 2023 release Blue Angel Sparkling Silver, and follows the singles “Berlin”, “Postinternetfame”, and “Self Tape”.

Mahesh, who originally hails from Dallas, first emerged with her 2020 debut EP Quiet Light. That began a run of independent, self-produced records that blended folk, electronic, and pop elements. Since then, she has balanced music with medical school, currently completing her training in Massachusetts.

The new mixtape was shaped by that duality. “This record is for people who dream about what their life could be like,” Mahesh says. She has described the LP as an attempt to reconcile the sterile environment of the hospital where she works with the secluded softness of her bedroom studio back in Austin.

Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2 is, according to the artist, rooted in a sense of nostalgia for the period when she made the first volume – a time before professional pressures and career decisions entered the frame. The result is a record that moves between suburban memory and the uncertainty of an open road.

A limited-edition vinyl pressing is also available, featuring both Blue Angel Sparkling Silver and its new sister tape as a two-disc set.
