Arctic Monkeys are dropping their first new song in four years this Thursday

A new Arctic Monkeys song will drop this Thursday at 3PM as part of the bands involvement in a new War Child benefit album.

The track was announced less than an hour ago on the War Child records Instagram alongside “more info about our upcoming project to support children living through war.”

According to a post earlier this month on r/arcticmonkeys, the band would feature on a new version of War Child's legendary 1995 Help record with a song "that was unfinished during the AM recording... and after that, they are done," as declared by a commenter on Reddit - whose credibility stems from leaking news of the Oasis tour months in advance of announcement. James Ford, who has worked on all but one of the band's studio albums - including 2013's AM - has also been linked to production on a the new War Child project.

Arctic Monkeys hasn't put out any new music since 2022's The Car, with drummer Matt Helders – who has also shared the Warchild post – busy with a solo project alongside Mini Mansions vocalist Tyler Parkford.

Fans are also speculating on who else could be involved. The War Child Records instagram currently follows 32 other accounts, including: Ezra Collective, Kae Tempest, Olivia Rodrigo, Blur's Graham Coxon and Damon Albarn, Big Thief, FOALS, Dove Ellis, Portishead's Beth Gibbons, The Last Dinner Party,Young Fathers, Pulp, Wet Leg, Anna Calvi, Depeche Mode, Bat for Lashes, Black Country New Road, Sampha, Arooj Aftab, Arlo Park, beabadoobee, King Krule, Nilufer Yanya, Beck, and Greentea Peng.
