Andrew Jim Gannon details new album, Hydrate Those Folds!

Hydrate These Folds! sees Gannon releasing music under his own name for the first time, having previously been known under the moniker On Man (Houndstooth). The new collection of songs also marks a shift in his background in electronic music to lean further into art-pop, with "Bon Boys Will Break Your Heart" arriving as the latest preview of this direction.

Discussing the track, Gannon says: "'Bon Boys Will Break Your Heart 'sits in that uncomfortable space where love, guilt, care and control get tangled up. It came from thinking about the fear that even your most genuine intentions, even your tenderest actions, can grow fangs and leave a mark.”

Speaking about their remix, Xiu Xiu add: "The chance to deeply explore the music of Andrew Jim Gannon was such a pleasure. Gannon's voice is the voice I wish I had and remixing it into oblivion: a dream!"

Hydrate These Folds! follows a period of illness that Gannon went through, with the songs being too personal to share under his On Man project. “This feels like just the beginning," he says of the album. "I stopped overthinking and trusted intuition. That’s when the work opened up.” In addition to Xiu Xiu's rework of "Bon Boys Will Break Your Heart", the album features a remix from Douglas Dare, with Rich Aitken of Nimrod Sound on mixing and Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering on mastering.
