French-Senegalese artist anaiis has unveiled a cover of Lauryn Hill's 1998 track, "To Zion".
“I loved reimagining Lauryn Hill’s ‘To Zion’. The idea came really organically when I had the opportunity to perform with Chaka Khan’s Meltdown choir,” anaiis shares. “The song is significant to me for obvious reasons, but to be able to bring my own energy to it and to channel it through my musical world has been a really joyous and emotive process.”
Directed by Tawiah and arranged for an all-Black, all-women choir, the performance became a meditation on motherhood and transformation.
"To Zion" is out now.
