anaiis and Tayo Rapoport to curate new live performance at Barbican Conservatory
The Barbican London has announced that London-based artist anaiis and filmmaker Tayo Rapoport will be curating devotion, the final performance to take place in the Barbican Conservatory before its three-year restoration begins in early 2027.
devotion is a one-day event taking place on 22 November that combines film, live music and movement in an immersive experience held throughout the Conservatory.
The immersive experience will feature a two-channel artist film by anaiis and Tayo Rapoport, a meditative work that expands the sonic and visual worlds of anaiis’ 2025 album Devotion & The Black Divine (2025). The film focuses on the voices and presence of Black women in the wilderness of Jamaica, exploring how reconnecting with the earth becomes a reclamation of divinity.
anaiis and Rapoport have also curated a live score born out of a night-time forest recording from Portland, Jamaica, combined with sounds and musical elements from the album. Artists and performers positioned throughout the Conservatory will respond through sound and movement to turn the space into a full art installation before it undergoes its transformation.
Tickets for devotion go on general sale on Friday, 30 October at 10am. For more information and tickets, visit barbican.org.uk
