Allah-Las to return with new album, Sirenas
Los Angeles quartet Allah-Las have announced their sixth album, Sirenas, and shared new single, “Pt. Conception”.
Sirenas will be released on Mexican Summer in partnership with the band's own independent label, Calico Discos, and is their first full-length release since their 2023 album, Zuma 85. "Pt. Conception" follows "Ultramarine" released earlier this year, arriving as the second preview of a collection of songs which explore the "emotional and psychic" residues of sound.
The album takes inspiration from Iasos and Brian Eno, centring around their idea of treating creativity as a receptive state. As drummer Matt Correia says: “Exploration of these inner spaces translated to the themes of the physical world we love learning about—Thor Heyerdahl, Jacques Cousteau."
The band also approached the recording process more loosely, choosing to jam during studio sessions with new instruments and recording techniques. “That absence of intent led us down pathways we may have consciously avoided,” singer and guitarist Miles Michaud explains.
