Aemia sign with Artist House label and share new single “Nowhere To Hide”
Persian-Canadian alt-rock duo Aemia have signed with Artist House and released their first single for the label, “Nowhere To Hide”. Produced by JT Daly, the track is paired with a video directed by vocalist Mia Ravangar.
Written by the duo - Ravangar plus guitarist Kourosh Zarandooz - and mixed by Joseph McQueen, the song’s lyrics examine psychological abuse. Ravangar says the track is written from the perspective of the abusive voice itself.
"It’s a cautionary song," she says in a press statement. "Writing this, I wanted everyone to hear what it’s like from the outside to be fooled and sweet-talked into staying in an abusive state, and the incredibly difficult challenge to break free. It was very important for us to depict in the music video the permanent mark such experiences leave on us; the lifeless hands, marked forever by the chains."

Aemia’s MO is shaped by their move from Iran, where public female singing was restricted. After they were raided by police and had their instruments confiscated, Ravangar and Zarandooz relocated to Canada to rebuild their musical lives. That background naturally informs their output, including earlier single “Zendebad”, written as a tribute to Iranian resilience.
Joe Ruzicka, A&R Co-Lead at Artist House, called them "the band that defines the next wave of rock."
The signing follows independent singles “Stars”, “From”, “Kleptomaniac”, and “Zendebad”.
