A$AP Rocky to have lead role in Spike Lee film starring Ice Spice and Denzel Washington
In a recent interview with Deadline, director Spike Lee spoke about his forthcoming film, Highest 2 Lowest, and revealed that A$AP Rocky is part of the casting.
Originally described as a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1963 crime thriller, High and Low, Spike Lee has revealed that his move is actually "a reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s great film", with slight differences in the storyline. “In Kurosawa’s film, Toshiro Mifune is a shoemaker. In our film Denzel Washington is a music mogul with his own label and his reputation as the best ears in the business," Lee explains.
This will be the fifth time that he's worked with Denzel Washington, following Mo’ Better Blues, Malcolm X, He Got Game and Inside Man. Other additions to the cast are Ice Spice, who will be making her acting debut, as well as A$AP Rocky. Rather than giving any details away, about his role, Lee sheepishly said: "People will see when it comes out, but it's dynamite!".
