1tbsp readies debut LP big soaps and shares “Carottes” ft. miki
Australian electro producer 1tbsp has outlined details of his debut LP big soaps, due on 5 February 2027 via dottidot. New single “Carottes” featuring French synth-pop artist miki is out now.
“Carottes” began on miki's home turf of Paris, where the two had only a few hours together before she headed out on tour. They wrote three songs in that window, with two of them making it to the LP. As 1tbsp, aka Maxwell Byrne, said: “We really clicked instantly.”
miki's process typically involves collecting small found-sound fragments and editing them in Ableton; she gave Byrne a few of these and one became the central synth chord pattern of “Carottes”. Byrne cited Greek music and Stereo Nova’s 2007 album Remastered 1 as reference points for the French-sung track.
Preceding the announcement, 1tbsp released “Wish You Luck” featuring kid on air and "Pink Dress" with Cherry Cola. His equally guest-heavy Hotel Living EP arrived last summer. Byrne started 1tbsp in 2021 and has worked with Ninajirachi, Soltera, and mietze conte. He was nominated for a Grammy under the Golden Vessel songwriting moniker.
