Joss Bromley, former member of Yucky Slime, Woe and Corpse Lights has decided to go mellow and magnificently raw with his new solo project Lone Omi.
Having only formed and played his first show in an Oxford garage last week, alongside Reeks of Effort labelmates King of Cats and Ides, Joss is already providing us with strong material.
Distressed vocals, clean guitar, sudden silences and unquestionably, delicate melodies are just a fraction of what’s included on EP, For Ever Lone. The fragility found in this four track release exposes Joss’ scratchy, strained voice whilst also emphasizing the power of simplicity and what little is needed to make magnificently cutting music.
The scaling, erratic vocals throughout the record, particularly on ‘Heart Work’, create such a foggy atmosphere of isolation, Joss using uttered syllables and heavy-hearted metaphorical musings to strike a connective chord. Brilliantly moving.
