Listen: Young Ejecta - "Your Planet"
The latest track from Leanne Macomber and Joel Ford's Young Ejecta has an otherworldly tinge to it that's impossible to ignore. "Your Planet" follows the sweet, velvety lullaby of "Welcome to Love", swapping smooth synths for enough jabbing and bubbling keys to kick start a disco in the clouds. Hypnotic and euphoric, "Your Planet" is something special.
As a funky synth bass is joined by blinking, laser keys and a pounding beat, Macomber's heavenly vocals drift by the wayside letting Ford's club-ready production take centre stage. Oozing with cool and class thanks to Macomber's vocals but at the same time featuring harsh, metallic synths, it's a song full of contradictions.
The end result is the wonderfully addictive mix of Giorgio Moroder style italo-disco with the beautifully alluring feel of a Chairlift track, with real hints of Caroline Polachek in Macomber's voice.
"Your Planet" features on Young Ejecta's upcoming mini-album, The Planet, out January 27.
