Indie-pop trio WYLDR explore “Savage” instincts with dazzling new single
Los Angeles-based WYLDR emerged earlier this year when singer-songwriter Will Winters joined forces with guitarist Taylor Van Ginkel and multi-instrumentalist Michael Matta. The trio’s single “Savage” is a dazzling, panoramic indie-pop tune that will hold tremendous appeal for fans of M83.
Opening with a heady buzz of distortion and swaddled in thick layers of synth, the track takes on an atmosphere of cinematic longing. Chiming guitars and thudding drum programming make for a wholly pleasing pop experience.
Speaking about the track, the band says: “‘Savage’ describes a man whose 'savage' heart makes him want his lover for her body, but also makes him want to be free from the control of another person.”
The track is taken from the band’s upcoming Gypsy Heart EP, slated for a December release.
