New York popstress VÉRITÉ drops second track, "Weekend"
VÉRITÉ appeared out of nowhere last month with her debut, “Strange Enough”, a song dedicated to post-break up pondering. This week she’s back with the no-frills pop of “Weekend”.
She explained the idea behind the track: “Conceptually it came from a snapshot of a scenario. An old friend of mine lived on this quiet, dead end residential street with bright florescent lights. I had the image of us falling down in the stillness of the scene. From the first line, the song winds up being an ode to the nostalgia of how, despite how sick we were or how insane things get, we can take moments from the craziest times and glorify them as being absolutely perfect.
“‘Weekend’ winds up sitting in a weird place for me, caught between the exhilaration of ‘you could bring me to life’ and the reality that we were only fooling ourselves into thinking we were alive while we distract ourselves from reality.”
