Watch: Vanbot - "Trooper" [Premiere]
It’s been awfully too long since we last heard from Swedish electro-popster Vanbot (née Ester Ideskog), but that’s about to change. We here at Best Fit are honoured to premiere her new single, “Trooper”, the first full taste of Vanbot’s long-awaited sophomore release tabbed for later this year.
Spearheaded at the outset by a throwback midi-influenced synth line, Vanbot teases us along with sparse atmosphere, eventually blowing the song euphorically open at the chorus, exclaiming, “there’s no one that will take you from me!”
"Trooper" is not Ideskog’s first stab at her follow-up material as, similar to Grimes’ and Laura Marling’s recent attestations, she canned her original plans and went back to the drawing board:
"The plan was to release a new album last fall. It was almost finalized when I got cold feet. Something was missing and I didn’t want to let myself or you down. I took ten steps back and started all over again, started from scratch. After rebooting I was challenged to do it so much better. It was the perfect storm.”
“Trooper” is available today via download while the upcoming album is teased here.
