Listen: The Muscadettes - "I'm In Love"
It just fucking snowed here – again, and several inches at that! – for the third time in an fucking week. For those unaware thinking this isn’t such a big deal, it is here in the Southeast US. Nothing is open, no one goes out, the grocery stores are empty over this.
So I have a bit of cabin fever, pining for warmth and sun, fresh air and room to move for Christ’s sake. So imagine my delight at running across this nifty new tune by The Muscadettes. Did I say nifty? Hell, it’s more than that, “I’m In Love” is nearly quite literally sunshine and fresh air wafting from the speakers.
Twin sisters from Montreal, Chantal and Kathleen Ambridge knit together furry little ditties seemingly born in the garage but stretch their legs on a longboard atop a wave. Sure, we’ve been round these parts before – particularly lately – but what better antidote to the doldrums of late Winter than fuzzed surf guitar underpinning such plainly sweet sentiments as the title proclamation or the duo’s breathy chain of “just you and me”s" closing out the tune.
“I’m In Love” features on The Muscadettes’ sophomore EP, Side A, due out 21 April courtesy of PaperCup Music, with a release show slated for 30 April at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right.
