Long Island bros The Lemon Twigs drop the best lo-fi rock & roll anthem you'll hear this decade
Brian and Michael D'Addario keep it in the family with a euphoric, optomistic track that frames the DIY outsider as a blue-eyed soul survivor wandering into Ziggy Stardust's dressing room.
"As Long As We're Together" sees the Long Island, NY-based brother-act move things up a notch from the spiralling psyche of their 2015 debut "What We Know". It's a near-perfect five minute opus showcasing some of the finest raw songwriting around, with some lo-fi production from Foxygen's Jonathan Rado.
That the D'Addarios have pulled off the rare feat of chanelling the greats without really sounding like any of them is both beautiful and terrifying. That they also look like Harmony Korine reimagining Gummo as Big Star which is enough to give me nightmares of the very best kind.
