How long will it be before everyone stops prefixing R&S with ‘resurgent’? The London-via-Ghent label has been responsible for releases from Space Dimension Controller, Blawan, James Blake, and many others since it returned from hibernation in 2006. I think it’s safe to say its resurgence is complete.
R&S’s next release is the forthcoming second album from New York duo Teengirl Fantasy. ‘End’, the latest track to materialise from that record, sees the pair in exploratory mood, wandering glass-eyed around a hallucinatory landscape of sci-fi block percussion and deep piano hits. It’s all a bit Peter Gabriel – and, despite what you might have heard, that is only ever a good thing.
Tracer is out 21 August on R&S. In the meantime, stream ‘End’ below.
