Swimming Tapes make it a perfect four in a row with sepia toned new track "Cameos"
London based five-piece Swimming Tapes have just released “Cameos”, the last track from their upcoming four-track EP and a certified knockout of a song.
The track opens with an almost shoegaze guitar line before the twin vocals of Louis Price and Robbie Reid dreamily push the song forwards, singing in sepia tone. “Cameos” puts you in a place where you can almost taste those long summer Sundays lying in the park, even if it is the middle of January.
This feeling of imagining you’re somewhere better is more than just a happy accident though, with Reid saying of the song: ““Cameos” is about being far away from a person you want to see more of, dragging yourself through the week while wishing you were somewhere else.”
Swimming Tapes really are something special, equal parts nostalgic and fresh. It’s a line that’s tough to straddle, but these guys make it look easy.
